Now introducing our 5-week intro to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu course!

This course will go over the basics of Jiu Jitsu and help you build a solid foundation before you attend our all levels classes. During this course, you will learn the fundamental concepts of Jiu Jitsu and techniques such as positional control, takedowns, submissions and escaping bad positions. You will put your new skills to the test with other beginners through positional drills and live sparring in a controlled environment. This class is only open to complete beginners.

In this class you will also build confidence, mental and physical strength and challenge yourself in new ways. Our instructors will guide you through each class to help you reach your full potential. By the end of this course you will have an understanding of the basics of Jiu Jitsu and have a solid foundation of fundamentals to build on. This class will get you ready to attend our beginners and all levels classes where you will be training with more experienced students in addition to other beginners. This class will slowly build in intensity and get you to a level where you can spar/roll with other students. This class will also ensure you understand and are able to safely train with other people.

Our 5 week intro class is designed to accommodate complete beginners and is a great place to start whether you are just looking to get in shape, learn self defense, start a new hobby, or simply try something new.

-Is this course mandatory? Can I just sign up and train in your regular classes?

Yes, unless you have trained before, the intro class is currently the only way to start training Jiu Jitsu at our gym.  In addition to building a solid knowledge of fundamentals, another purpose of this course is to ensure new students understand how to safely spar and/or build enough confidence to be able to train live with other, more experienced students. We have had students in past intro courses who felt like they were ready to jump into the regular classes so if your instructors think you can safely train in our beginners and all levels classes, you may be able start attending our other classes while you are still going through the intro course.

After the 5 week course is over, if you want to continue training you can sign up for a membership and start coming to the other classes. If you missed too many days or feel like you need more time before coming to the more advanced classes, you are welcome to repeat the intro course after you sign up.

If you are Law Enforcement or you have prior grappling experience, then you don't have to go through this course. Wrestling counts as prior grappling experience. If you are not sure whether you need to start in the intro course, contact us to schedule a free first class and we can recommend the best class to start. If you have trained before or are law enforcement, contact us to schedule a free first class.

- Do I have to come to all 3 days?

Yes. It would be preferable to try to come to all scheduled classes. The classes during these 5 weeks build onto the last class on most days so if you miss too many classes you won't be benefiting as much as you can from this course. We do understand sometimes you have to miss class and we try our best to get people caught up by reviewing material at the beginning of every class. If you know you are going to miss a bunch of days talk to your coaches, you may be able to come to some of the beginners classes.

- How is this course different than your regularly scheduled classes?

Our regularly scheduled beginners and all levels classes do not have a set curriculum, the classes don't build onto the last class or have any minimum attendance requirements. You simply come when you want to train and learn whatever technique is being taught that day. The students in these classes are people from all levels, some are beginners and some have been training for a while. We also spar at the end of each class as opposed to just doing situational drills where your instructor gives you specific goals based on what was learned that day.

The intro course is a 5 week comprehensive beginners program that focuses on the fundamental concepts of Jiu Jitsu and covers a set curriculum. Most classes build onto the last class. Everyone is a beginner in this class and you get more personalized attention from your coaches.

Starting Jiu Jitsu without having a basic understanding of the fundamentals can be confusing for a lot of people. The goal of the intro course is to minimize the confusion experienced in the initial weeks and fully prepare you to better understand and learn the materials being taught in our regular classes.

The intro course will also cover gym rules/ etiquette, how to train safely as well as ease you into sparring/ rolling with other beginners instead of throw you in with more experienced people on day 1. The physical aspect of the class builds in intensity over the 5 weeks so you are not going from zero to a hundred percent on Day 1. This course is a great way to try out Jiu Jitsu and see if it is something you want to continue doing.

- What if I change my mind or something comes up and I can't complete the course? What is the refund policy for this course?

If you decide the course isn't for you on Day 1 or Day 2, you will get a full refund.

There will be no refunds after Day 2 if you simply decide you no longer want to do this.

If an unforeseen event comes up, we would be happy to give you credit. This credit can be used to repeat the intro course at a later date. You can also use this credit towards gym merch, fitness classes and courses, you can also transfer it to someone else.

- I want to start training Jiu Jitsu but can't make it on the days/ times you offer the intro course. How can I get started if I can't make it to the intro course?

The intro course will be offered a few times a year and we may offer other days/ times in the future. You can also contact us and see if we can get you started in some of our other classes.
